Tameside Community Fund to Host First Event

Date Released - 04/05/2022

THE newly-launched Tameside Community Fund hosts its first event on Saturday (May 7) giving members of the public the chance to decide which groups should receive grants to support their work.

Catering for the Tameside North neighbourhood, which covers the council’s Hurst, St Michael’s, Waterloo and St Peter’s wards, it takes place at the 4C Community Centre, Taunton Road, from noon to 4pm, and is open to everyone.

All the projects vying for support come under one of four headings: Clean and Attractive, which means looking after an area’s appearance; Health and Wellbeing; Safer Neighbourhoods and Staying Connected – helping people get together to reduce loneliness and isolation.

The remaining three events (also open to everyone) are:

Saturday, May 21

West (Audenshaw, Denton and Droylsden): St George’s Church, Windmill Lane, Denton, (noon to 4pm).

Saturday, June 11

East (Dukinfield, Mossley and Stalybridge): The Together Centre, Birch Lane, Dukinfield, (2 to 5pm).

Saturday, June 18

South (Hyde and Longdendale): The Meeting Point, St Barnabas’s Church, Hattersley Road East, Hattersley, (noon to 4pm).

A Tameside Council spokesperson said: “There are lots of community groups in Tameside, all doing an excellent and highly-valued job.

“The Tameside Community Fund offers them a fun way to engage with the public and wider community as they set out their case to get some money to support their activities and give their work a welcome financial boost.”
