Tameside Libraries double as Warm Welcome Hubs, a comfortable and safe space which all residents can enjoy this winter, offering free hot drinks during staffed hours.
Tameside Council are continuing to remind residents that their libraries are warm spaces to be used by residents, especially as colder weather is approaching and energy bills are rising. Libraries are offering free tea and coffee and cold drinks.
Tameside Council Executive Member for Population Health and Wellbeing, Cllr Eleanor Wills said; ‘’Our libraries are the perfect place to enjoy a brew this winter. All residents are welcome to use our libraries during staffed hours to stay warm and to keep electricity bills down at home.
‘‘Our helpful staff can also signpost you to local support and advice available if you are struggling with bills, housing, mental health and more. Please do not struggle alone, access the support services that are available to you. Not to forget our libraries have fantastic IT facilities, free Wi-Fi and a wide selections of books, audio books and language courses for all to use.’’
There are eight welcoming libraries across Tameside which provide soft seating, free-Wi-Fi, and computer facilities where residents can spend their time reading or relaxing. Friendly and helpful library staff can also provide people with a range of advice and signpost to local support which available.
