IF your children fancy an adventure during the upcoming half-term holiday, Stalybridge Civic Hall is where they’ll find it.
On Saturday, February 18 (10am to 1pm), families are invited to join in the Armchair Adventures Installation Extravaganza – an immersive, interactive experience based on Made by Mortals’ award-winning children’s podcast “Armchair Adventures”.
It features 10 episodes that have been brought to life and there’s a musical theatre workshop too. Thirty free places are available for children aged six to ten on a first-come, first-served basis. To book, visit www.eventbrite.co.uk and look for Armchair Adventures.
“Armchair Adventures” is a fun fictional, interactive children’s podcast made by local older people which has won several awards including bronze in the Best Family Podcast category at the British Podcast Awards 2022.
Each episode features Connie and her plucky gang of adventurers on a journey of the imagination. Visit magical places and meet extraordinary people, all while joining in with lots of singing and fun.
Cllr Sangita Patel, Tameside Council’s executive member with responsibility for culture, heritage and digital inclusivity, said: “Our imaginations are probably at their most active as we approach the age of 10 and this exciting event offers children the chance to use them to their best effect using music, movement, song and drama.
“Armchair Adventures” is understandably acclaimed as it brings together the community, enabling youngsters to be inspired by older people’s experiences, passions and interests.”
Made by Mortals is an Audenshaw-based arts organisation whose mission is to cultivate a community of creative citizens. Its membership includes professional artists, health and social care practitioners, commissioners and researchers.
