Community Fund Awards a Further £12,000

TAMESIDE Community Inspiration and Innovation Fund distributed another £12,000 in grants at last week’s west neighbourhood event, bringing the total awarded so far to more than £20,000.

Cllr Betty Affleck, the Deputy Mayor of Tameside, opened the meeting, which took place at New Chapel Unitarian Church, Clare Street, Denton, and which catered for community groups from Denton, Droylsden and Audenshaw.

The winners were:

Denton

Stoke Association (Buddies Angling and Stroke Rehabilitation) £1,393.76.

Little Lambs Toddler Group (Little Lambs Outdoor Area) £2,000.

Friends of Ladbroke Wood £2,000.

Tame Valley (footpath restoration) £2,000.   

Dane Bank Green Space (nature trail) £681.

Ensemble Theatre Inclusive Arts (youth inclusion) £1,999.

Droylsden

Fairfield Outdoor Adventure Centre (School’s Out for Summer Bushcraft) £1,850.

Lincoln Avenue Allotment Scheme £2,000.

Cllr Vimal Choksi, Tameside Council’s executive member for towns and communities, said: “The west neighbourhood event made for another highly successful meeting where the fund allowed us to help even more groups with their valuable work.

“While the accent was on green space and the outdoors, with all the benefits that has for mental and physical wellbeing, it was good to see a theatre group receive a grant to support them with youth inclusion.”

Tameside Community Inspiration and Innovation Fund’s 2023 programme comes to a close with its fourth and final event which covers the borough’s south neighbourhood comprising Hyde, Hattersley and Longdendale.
