STUDENTS in Tameside today celebrate receiving their AS and A Level results following exams returning to pre-pandemic arrangements.
Ofqual confirmed a return to pre-pandemic grading in 2023, with allowances in place against the impact of disruption, including from the COVID-19 pandemic. It means that a student should be just as likely to achieve a particular grade this year as they would have been before the pandemic.
Many local students have gone on to achieve success in their exams to progress onto further education, apprenticeships, training or work.
Tameside Council and local colleges have worked hard to support students throughout their studies while recovering from the impact and challenges cause by the pandemic. Support for students is in place for post-18 pathways to provide transitional support on to further education and post-education.
Cllr Leanne Feeley, Tameside Council Executive Member for Education, Achievement and Equalities, said: “A huge congratulations to our students who are receiving their AS and A Level results today. I wish them all the very best in achieving their goals as they progress along their career paths.
“We are committed to continuing to support students with their transition on to further education, training and employment and ensuring support pathways are in place to support their success, no matter where they wish to go next.”
