Bollywood Night makes £1,800 for Mayor's Charities

GOOD food, good company and good entertainment combined to raise more than £1,800 when the Civic Mayor of Tameside, Cllr Tafheen Sharif, hosted a Bollywood Curry Night in aid of her charity appeal.

The function, which took place at the award-winning Indian Plaza, Audenshaw, featured music from Jamil and a raffle and auction where the lots and prizes were donated by Manchester United and Manchester City (sourced by Cllr Dave McNally and Cllr Denise Ward); Madinah Property Services, Manchester; Amy Sargeant Specialist Beauty Clinic, Mottram; Cafe Plus, Denton; Tokies, Stalybridge; Sugar Cubes Desserts, Audenshaw; and Tameside MPs Angela Rayner and Jonathan Reynolds. 

Cllr Sharif said: 'It was a fantastic night full of beautiful people, good entertainment and great food. 

“We are living in very difficult times for many families across Tameside and it was nice for people to take a night off and come together for my charities.

“I am thankful to each and every person who was able to contribute to this amazing night, to Jimmy (Jamil) for the entertainment, to the Indian Plaza for excellent food and service, and to all those who made very generous donations to the event.”

The Mayor’s charity appeal fund comprises Home-Start (HOST), which offers expert support to families with young children that are going through difficult times; West African Development, which helps ethnic minority communities in Tameside, and We Shall Overcome, an organisation providing support for the homeless.
