Tameside residents are urged to make it a Christmas to remember for care leavers in the borough.
Tameside Leaving Care Team have launched a festive appeal to help buy much-needed Christmas gifts for young people who might otherwise go without.
The Tameside Council team supports 360 care leavers and wants to make sure that each and every young person has a gift on Christmas Day.
They’ve developed an Amazon Wish List in conjunction with care leavers that includes a range of gifts such as chocolates, wellbeing gift sets, cosy blankets, hoodies and slippers, accommodating all budgets.
To get involved, people simply need to visit the list at www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/5P42A92LXZNV?ref_=wl_share and purchase the item that they want to donate, which is then posted directly to the Leaving Care Team who will wrap them up and deliver them to the young people in time for Christmas.
Cllr Bill Fairfoull, Tameside Council’s Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Children and Families, said: “As the Corporate Parent for Tameside’s Cared for Children and Care Leavers, we want to do everything we can to support them, including showing how much they are loved and thought of at Christmas.
“While these are challenging times, it would be wonderful if everyone who is able to help could spare a little to purchase a gift and make someone’s Christmas. I know that your gifts are much needed and will be very gratefully received. I’d like to thank everyone involved in organising the appeal and everyone who is able to take part.”
