AFTER a Bollywood night and a business networking dinner, the latest event in the Civic Mayor of Tameside’s hectic and varied charity diary is a fashion show with a difference.
Always keen to emphasise and promote the diversity that is modern-day Tameside, Cllr Tafheen Sharif has organised a cultural fashion show to take place at Dukinfield Town Hall on Friday, February 2 (7pm).
Models will be displaying clothing from many of the borough’s cultures. Refreshments will be available and there will be a raffle too.
The Civic Mayor said: “While tastes may differ from culture to culture, style is universal. This is not only a fashion show but a celebration of our diverse and beautiful cultures across Tameside – a unique event that will bring us together and reflect the goodness we all carry.
“Equality, inclusivity and opportunities are values close to my heart and this event will make a bold statement about them.
“My charity fashion show is open to everyone and the people attending won’t just be supporting some very worthwhile causes, they’ll be at an event they’re bound to enjoy.”
Tickets, £5 each, are available by emailing mayorsoffice@tameside.gov.uk
All proceeds will go to the Civic Mayor’s charity appeal fund which comprises Home-Start (HOST), which offers expert support to families with young children that are going through difficult times; West African Development, which helps ethnic minority communities in Tameside, and We Shall Overcome, an organisation providing support for the homeless.
Fashion businesses supporting the show include Poppet’s Place, LA Fashion, Resham Asian Clothing, and Hope Quality Couture.
