A new consultation has launched to hear what changes residents would like to see to make Tameside neighbourhoods healthier places to live.
Residents are urged to take part in the Healthy Places consultation, which runs until 29 March, to share their thoughts on how to make Tameside’s neighbourhoods happier and healthier places for everyone.
Where people live, work, go to school, or college affects their health and wellbeing. The environment in Tameside can make a big difference to keeping people’s bodies and minds healthy.
The quality of their environment impacts how individuals move around their neighbourhoods, connect with their community, find suitable housing, manage air pollution levels, and access opportunities for walking, wheeling and cycling.
Evidence shows that a good quality, nutritious diet, being active, being a healthy weight and tobacco free bring substantial health benefits and can significantly reduce the risk of disease. The Healthy Places consultation will focus on food and nutrition, physical activity, healthy weight and tobacco control.
Cllr Eleanor Wills, Tameside Council Executive Member for Population Health and Wellbeing, said: “We want Tameside to be a place that helps people to live healthy, active lives within a healthy environment. This consultation is a vital step in understanding what matters to our residents and working together to achieve a healthier community and we encourage everyone to participate.”
