New Grants available for projects supporting community safety

COMMUNITY groups are being encouraged to apply for new grant funding for projects that strengthen communities & reduce anti-social behaviour.

Tameside Council’s Community Safety team has launched the Resilient Communities Grant Fund for the fourth year running.

Applications are open to voluntary, community, faith or charity groups, which can apply for up to a maximum of £2,000 for a new project, activity or significant development of an existing one.   

Projects will need to demonstrate at least one of the following priorities: prevent crime and reduce fear of crime; improving environmental resilience and challenges; reducing anti-social behaviour and; empowering communities.

Those projects that meet the criteria will then be invited to attend an event, where the audience will vote which projects they wish to receive funding.

Councillor Vimal Choksi, Tameside Council Executive Member for Towns and Communities, said: “The grant funding is a wonderful opportunity for us to work with, support and inspire the local community to create a safer Tameside, whilst transforming or creating new accessible spaces for everyone in the borough.

“By investing in and empowering local communities, we can help remove barriers to those who are disadvantaged, so all residents can develop their confidence and skills.”

The deadline to submit applications is 29 March 2024. Once completed the application form email it to the Partnership Officer for your area below prior to the Approval Panel date given to you in advance.
