Get on your Pushbike to give the Mayor's Appeal One Last Push

Date Released - 07/05/2024

THE Civic Mayor of Tameside is asking people to get on a pushbike to provide a final push for her charity appeal.

Cllr Tafheen Sharif has partnered Active Tameside to organise a fun family cycling day at the Richmond Street circuit in Ashton on Saturday 18 May (2 to 5pm).

As well as the chance to enjoy some healthy outdoor exercise there will be a food stall, a henna artist and a face painter.

Tickets are £10 for an adult, £5 for a child or £20 for a family of four. They are available on the day (cash only) or can be reserved in advance by emailing mayorsoffice@tameside.gov.uk

The Mayor said: “My family cycling day offers the perfect combination. You can do some healthy and very enjoyable physical activity in the open air while at the same time helping my appeal which supports some very good causes that are close to my heart.

“It will be a fun day that’s great for our families with stalls serving tasty food (Mango Indian Kitchen), a henna artist and a face painter.

“Everyone’s welcome to come along, young or old, and I hope to see a great many people at Richmond Street on the day, all enjoying a great family fun cycling day.”

Bikes are available at the cycling circuit. Up to 25 people are allowed on the track at one time.

All proceeds will go to the Civic Mayor’s charity appeal fund which comprises Home-Start (HOST), which offers expert support to families with young children that are going through difficult times; West African Development, which helps ethnic minority communities in Tameside, and We Shall Overcome, an organisation providing support for the homeless.
