Party in the Park Celebrates Tameside’s Carers

Carers gathered at Stamford Park for an afternoon recognising and celebrating their dedication to caring for others.

An event filled with music, food, and laughter was arranged by Tameside Carers Centre for Carers Week as an opportunity to show gratitude for all they do and provide some well-deserved time out.

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlighting the challenges unpaid carers face, and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities.

Executive Member for Adult Social Care Councillor John Taylor said: ‘’Thank you to all our Carers who joined for this fun filled afternoon of singing and socialising.

‘’We know it is important to provide these opportunities and spaces to take some time out for themeselves and to make meaningful connections with others who also care for someone.’’

Tameside Carers Centre is service supporting a variety of unpaid Carers to get the right support at the right time. Wellbeing Advisors offer tailored information, advice, advocacy, and emotional support, including help with Carers Assessments to see how they can assist the person caring and those they care for.

Drop-in support sessions run from Monday to Friday (excluding Wednesday’s) from10am to 2pm, booking is not essential but if you prefer to let them know you are visiting, please get in touch. Carers can connect with other through coffee mornings which are hosted on the last Tuesday of every month and regular events are organised for well-deserved time out.
