Local businesses asked to support young people to get into work

A new project is being relaunched this week to help young people find jobs.

Local businesses are being encouraged through the Tameside Council run scheme to support young people aged 16-24 by offering them employment for a minimum period of six-months.

During this period, businesses will receive full wage reimbursement, ensuring they can support youth employment without bearing the initial financial burden.

The benefits for businesses include:

• Development support and assistance in training the young person to meet specific business needs.
• A strategy to help with recruitment planning plan and manage future hiring by developing a home-grown workforce.
• Giving the local economy a boost and supporting the local community

Cllr Jack Naylor, Executive Member for Inclusive Growth, Business, and Employment said: "We are excited to relaunch this project and see the positive impact it will have on both young people and local businesses. By supporting our youth, businesses can help shape a skilled and motivated workforce, benefiting the entire community."
