Roadshow to help with Pension Credit Claims

Date Released - 12/09/2024

Older people are invited to drop-in support sessions across Tameside to find out if they’re eligible for an estimated £7 million of unclaimed Pension Credit.

Tameside Council’s Welfare Rights are hosting a Pension Credit Roadshow which will visit several locations across Tameside. These in-person sessions allow older residents, who are over State Pension age, find out if they’re eligible for Pension Credit and check they’re getting all the benefits they are entitled to.

In Tameside just over 3,200 people who are entitled are not claiming Pension Credit, a government benefit which provides extra money for those over State Pension age with a low income. If eligible people may also be able to access other entitlements such as Winter Fuel Payments, housing costs, reduced Council Tax, NHS costs, and more.

Tameside Council’s Welfare Rights team will be visiting the below venues from October 1 2024:

Tameside Council Executive Member for Adult Social Care Cllr John Taylor said: ‘’It’s crucial we provide in-person support in our communities to help people check if they’re eligible for Pension Credit.

‘’If you think you or someone could be eligible, please come along to one of our drop-in information sessions to speak our friendly Welfare Rights team who will be happy to assist you.’’
