A SYMPHONY of musical opportunities are available for young people to join bands and groups in Tameside.

Tameside Music Service (TMS) is not just a place to learn to play, write and edit music – it also has 14 groups available to join.

For just £10 every term, young people can join any or all of the bands, choirs or groups, which is just under £2 per week!

Not only do young people get to make friends and learn new skills like teamwork, creativity and self-discipline and improve their confidence, but they also have the opportunity to perform in historic, internationally renowned venues like Band on the Wall and the Stoller Hall.

TMS is passionate about helping all young people up to age 25 who love making music. The groups are timetabled as:

Tameside Music Service is part of Tameside Council’s Children’s Services and the Greater Manchester Music Hub. Through its collaborations and joined up approach with numerous partners, it ensures that the young people of Tameside get the best opportunities.

Councillor Teresa Smith, Tameside Council Executive Member for Children’s Services, said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity for young people to join a band or group and fulfil their musical ambitions and get to perform at a famous venue. The wide range of groups and styles of music available to join at Tameside Music Service means that there’s something for everyone.

“Music is a wonderful way of connecting and inspiring people and can build skills, discipline and confidence and change people’s lives. And who knows, we may discover the next Oasis or Katherine Jenkins here in Tameside.”
