Story Makes: People Like Me

THERE’S no stopping Story Makers. Thanks to popular demand the storytelling activities for children aged four and under are back for an eighth time.

Story Makers has steadily grown in popularity ever since the first project was launched in 2017. More than 2,000 children took part in “999 Emergency” which ended in May.

From Tuesday October 1 families will be again be able to enjoy all the usual fun with Simon the Storyteller. The latest theme, supported and sponsored by Tameside Council’s community safety team, is “People Like Me” – exploring diversity, disability and how different families are made up. 

Story Makers, which is especially designed for pre-school children, is allied to the Tameside Loves Reading campaign. The interactive sessions include a different story every week, plus dancing, games, singing and lots of fun.

Adults and children who take part have the opportunity to work with award-winning writer Caryl Hart and illustrator Andy Rowland to create a children’s picture book of which they’ll receive a complimentary copy when the project concludes with a huge celebration party.

Hattersley Library (10 to 10.45am) and Mossley Library (1.30 to 2.15pm).

Wednesdays:

Zoom (10 to 10.30am and Droylsden Library (1.30 to 2.15pm).
