Four fines issued after flytipping day of action in Hyde

Four people will be fined for waste offences following an Our Streets Day of action in Hyde.  

Tameside Council waste enforcement and community safety officers were joined by ward members to tackle litter and flytipping issues in the town centre on 9 October as well hotspots in Godley and Newton.

Investigations found evidence relating to four offenders and Fixed Penalty Notices are being served. The Community Safety Team talked with local residents and afterwards reported they had many positive conversations where they received intelligence and insights that will help to target further education and awareness raising.

• Hot spot areas where action was focussed included Oldham Street, Henry Street, Burkitt Street, Vernon Street, Chapel Street, Croft Street and Syddall Street.

A Tameside Council spokesperson said: “We’ve prosecuted ten people and issued 283 fixed penalty notices for waste offences so far this year, which is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our teams who are out every day investigating and clearing litter and flytipping. These days of action really help to put the spotlight on this work and we’re pleased to see more positive results including more fines being issued as well as positive and helpful conversations with residents. Thank you to everyone who works with us to look after and take pride in our local neighbourhoods.”
