STATEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE SENIOR LEADERSHIP TEAM AT TAMESIDE COUNCIL

TAMESIDE COUNCIL CONFIRMS PROCESS FOR FORMAL APPOINTMENT OF NEW LEADER AND INTERIM CHIEF EXECUTIVE

The appointment of the new Executive Leader of Tameside Council will be formally considered at a special Full Council meeting scheduled to meet on the evening of Thursday 24 October 2024.

Once the new Leader and Executive Cabinet are in place, we then start the process of putting in place interim arrangements as we progress to the permanent recruitment of the Chief Executive of the Council. This includes the calling of an Appointments Panel, comprising of the Executive Leader, Executive Cabinet and members of the opposition. 

Following this, another special meeting of Full Council is scheduled for the evening of Tuesday 29 October to formally appoint a new interim Chief Executive Officer of the organisation. 

As a Senior Leadership Team, we look forward to working with the new leadership, and are committed to delivering the substantial and sustainable improvements required by the authority. There is hard work ahead, but we also want to recognise there's an enormous amount of good work done every day across the organisation for the residents of Tameside. We are grateful for the dedication of everyone who works for Tameside Council, particularly during the recent challenging weeks.
