WHAT’S the best way to network at the Tameside Net Zero Festival? It’s to netwalk of course.
The event, which takes place on Friday, December 6, is all about people meeting up, making new contacts and swapping ideas that will help Tameside progress towards its green goal of being net zero by 2038.
Yet, whenever you enter a room, it’s only human nature to gravitate toward the people you already know.
The answer to this conundrum is the net-walk. As you make your way to The Vale, Micklehurst Road (off Marle Avenue – OL5 9JL), you’ll naturally start talking to others. It’s the perfect ice-breaker.
By the time you arrive you’ll already have had a chat and made connections.
If you want to take part, Marie Hare will meet you at the Two Mills Lane car park (OL5 9HP), at the junction with Queen Street, at 8.30am to lead you up to The Vale. Email her at marie.hare@tameside.gov.uk so she knows you’ll be walking, and if necessary to hold on for you.
The walk takes around 20 minutes so dress comfortably and don’t forget to take our unpredictable weather into account.
Still not convinced about the net-walk? Here are some more benefits to joining us before a fantastic event . . .
Walking helps us to: Be more creative; be more open, more extroverted, and less neurotic; increase productivity at work; problem-solve.
There is limited parking available at The Vale, but in any case we would encourage you to leave the car at home to reduce fuel-usage and carbon emissions. If you have to drive to Mossley, please think about car-sharing. The walk starts at a location convenient for trains and buses.
If you travel actively to work, don’t forget to sign up to https://1dayaweek.co.uk to be in with a chance of winning the monthly prize draw.
Tameside Council’s executive member for environmental services and neighbourhoods, Cllr Laura Boyle, said: “A walk in the fresh air is always a good idea in terms of exercise or improving your mental health.
“But when it comes to the Tameside Net Zero Festival, it surely as to be the perfect way to meet people, get talking and embrace the spirit of the event.
“If you want to make the most of the networking opportunities on Friday, December 6, I would strongly encourage you to netwalk.”
