TAMESIDE’s Care Home Elf is fundraising to provide a Christmas day meal to people in the community who may not otherwise get one.
Farrah Amjad, Blended Roles Facilitator at Tameside & Glossop ICFT, is being joined by members of her family and volunteers to spread festive cheer by delivering hot dinners on Christmas Day. Farrah said that even though her family do not celebrate Christmas they believe that ‘’regardless of race, religion, or background, giving back to the community is important’’.
This year, their mission is to raise money to provide a Christmas dinner to people in care homes and those less fortunate. Working with Tameside Adult Social Care and licensing team she has made sure food can safely be delivered to people on Christmas Day. Firbank House Care Home in Ashton-Under-Lyne are also supporting this year’s appeal, with their chef agreeing to help prepare meals for the community.
Executive Member for Adult Social Care Councillor John Taylor said: ‘’This is a fantastic initiative; well done to Farrah and her family, they should be so proud to lead it each year. Through this appeal they will bring festive joy and happiness to our communities and care homes this Christmas day.’’
