ADVICE on the full range of housing issues is now available 24 hours a day thanks to a new online portal available through Tameside Council’s website.
This morning (Monday 13 January) saw the launch of AdviceAid, a self-service tool which offers people information in plain English that is tailored to their specific situation. The list includes rent or mortgage arrears, rights when homeless, domestic violence, harassment, and where to find help if facing eviction.
It can be accessed through the homelessness and housing advice section of the council’s website: www.tameside.gov.uk/housing/advice
Cllr Andrew McLaren, Tameside Council’s deputy leader and executive member for growth, housing and homelessness, said: “AdviceAid has been created by a specialist housing consultancy that has worked with many other local authorities across the country.
“It is an excellent service and should be the first port of call for anyone facing homelessness or needing assistance with housing matters. The quality advice it provides will help us to prevent homelessness at a time when we are seeing an unprecedented level of demand.
“If you are facing homelessness, or have a housing question, please make sure the first thing you do is to check out AdviceAid. If you don’t have a PC, online access is available at any Tameside Library where our fully trained staff will be happy to help.”
