COMMUNITY groups and organisations came together at an event to help kickstart a new chapter in tackling inequalities within Tameside.
Tameside Council’s Lead for Population Health and Equalities Cllr Taf Sharif led the workshop, held on 28 January at Dukinfield Town Hall, bringing together community groups, elected officials, policymakers, and public services to discuss a refreshed approach to addressing the borough’s inequalities
The event focused on defining key objectives, structures, and timelines, with efforts aimed at revitalising the Inequalities Reference Group, which was established in 2020.
Cllr Taf Sharif said: "I am deeply committed to working together to celebrate diversity and reduce inequality in Tameside. It was inspiring to see so many thoughtful suggestions and an atmosphere of collaboration throughout the session. The energy in the room was incredible, and it was an invaluable opportunity to unite our efforts and set the stage for meaningful change. It left us more determined than ever to make a lasting impact."
"Thank you to everyone who joined us at the workshop and contributed to making Tameside a more inclusive borough. Together, we are stronger—Tameside Together."
This workshop marks an important step forward in a shared commitment to a fairer, more equitable future for all in Tameside.
