APPRENTICES who have shone in their first steps in their careers supporting Tameside residents have been recognised for their commitment.
Tameside Council Interim Chief Executive Harry Catherall, who himself started out as an apprentice at the age of 16, presented awards to current council apprentices as part of National Apprenticeship Week, which celebrates the skills and opportunities created by apprenticeships.
Since the Government’s Apprenticeship Levy was launched in 2017, the council has seen 94 new apprentices complete their apprenticeships, with 61 moving onto a permanent role.
A further 126 employees have further developed their skills through apprenticeships varying from Levels 2 -7 across 38 different qualifications.
