Action to be taken against six people for flytipping in Droylsden

Date Released - 14/02/2025

ENFORCEMENT action will be taken against six people after Tameside Council officers investigated flytipped waste in Droylsden.

Officers held an Our Streets day of action in the area of Craven Street and Edge Lane on Wednesday 12 February to clear waste that had been dumped in the street. They also talked to local residents about waste issues and concerns and offered guidance.

While clearing the waste, the team found evidence linking the flytipping to six people, who will each be issued with Fixed Penalty Notices.

Tameside Council Executive Member for Environmental Services and Neighbourhoods Cllr Laura Boyle said: “These days of action raise the profile of how all of us can help improve our communities, but they are only one aspect of our work - officers are out every day cleaning our streets and clearing up and investigating dumped waste. There is no excuse for flytipping – it is a blight on our local neighbourhoods and costs public funds thousands of pounds every year to clear up. We will always take action against those responsible where we find evidence and I thank our teams for this dedicated work on behalf of our community.”

The council has already this year carried out two prosecutions and issued 35 fixed penalty notices for waste related offences.
