People in Tameside are invited to information stalls by Tameside Council’s Direct Payment Team to find out more about becoming a self-employed Personal Assistant (PA).
Personal Assistants support people who have social care needs to live a good life in the place they call home. Through one-to-one support, they work with people to help them live the life they want by promoting independence, choice and control.
Support can include helping people to get out into their community, with any activities they like to do, empowering them to develop skills and/or encouragement and support with meals. Some people may need support with washing, getting dressed and whatever else makes them feel good and ready for the day.
Tameside Council have developed a Pool of Personal Assistants that can be recommended to those looking to employ someone for support. PA’s that are part of this Pool are matched with the right person who receives a direct payment as part of their support plan. They will also earn the real living wage, be able to work flexibly, have access to a wide range of training and a free DBS check.
