Spring into fun at Stamford Park’s family day

Stamford Park’s much-loved Family Fun Day is back on Sunday 27 April, offering a fantastic day out for all ages.

With spring in full bloom, this annual event is the perfect opportunity for families and friends to come together, enjoy exciting activities, and experience the beauty of the park’s stunning Victorian landscape.

The event runs from 12noon to 4pm, giving visitors plenty of time to explore the park’s top attractions, including the water feature, aviary, and Highfield Pavilion café, which will be serving a variety of refreshments throughout the day.

Visitors can look forward to lots of fun activities and attractions, including:

• Live entertainment – Face painting, crafts, birds of prey, a climbing wall, live music, and walkabout performers.
• Cycling Hub – Youth Service will be providing an opportunity for young people to learn bike skills and there will be demonstrations of a Trishaw.
• Dog Show – A highlight for pet owners and firm favourite, the RSPCA’s fun dog show will feature categories such as waggiest tail and best biscuit catcher. Entry is £2 per class, with registration starting at 12noon and the show beginning at 1pm.

As parking around Stamford Park is limited and mostly residents-only, visitors are encouraged to travel by public transport, bike, or on foot. Pay-and-display parking is available off Darnton Road for those arriving by car.

Cllr Laura Boyle, Tameside Council’s executive member for environmental services and neighbourhoods, said: “As always, the Spring Family Fun Day is a great day out for all ages, giving everyone the opportunity to celebrate the arrival of Spring and make the most of this beautiful park and hopefully some nice weather.”

To ensure a safe and healthy environment for all, this year’s Family Fun Day will be a smoke-free event, supporting the well-being of children and young people.
