Residents invited to view proposed plans for a footbridge and multi-storey car park in Stalybridge

Residents and businesses are being invited to an informal drop-in information session next week to review and feedback on proposed plans as part of the regeneration work underway in Stalybridge.

The drop-in organised by the Tameside Council project team is taking place in Stalybridge Civic Hall on Wednesday 16 July from 3pm until 7pm and everyone is welcome to pop in and talk to the team to find out more about the key projects underway.

Plans are currently being prepared for a multi-storey car park which will improve parking within the town centre and a footbridge which will improve accessibility and connectivity across the town centre.

The session is part of the Stalybridge Capital Regeneration Programme funded by £20m from the Government focussing on three key project areas to enhance the town’s public spaces and attract visitors to support local businesses, highlight Stalybridge’s cultural heritage, and attract further investment and growth. 

These include:

• improvements to roads and pedestrian areas,
• the regeneration of the cultural quarter and heritage assets
• preparation of sites at Stalybridge West for residential development and investment
  
   

Councillor Andrew McLaren, Tameside Council, Deputy Leader growth, housing and homelessness said:  “The multi-storey car park and footbridge are elements which will improve the connectivity and accessibility of the town, and we want people to understand more about the features and how they could look and be added to enhance the town and share their feedback with us for the next stages of development. We have been working with local ward councillors and stakeholders to bring forward these improvements.”
