Exciting plans to transform Ashton town centre moving forward with the search for a development partner set to start in the coming months.
A new vision and framework are to be sent to the Council’s Executive cabinet for approval, setting the stage for the search to find a development partner who will help bring the plans to life.
The goal is to make Ashton a vibrant, modern town with more homes, better transport, and new spaces for businesses and the community. The Council hopes to appoint a developer by spring 2026 to work in partnership on this long-term project.

This plan builds on the improvements already happening in Market Square and will bring together key areas in the Ashton Mayoral Development Zone (AMDZ) like St Petersfield and the shopping centres under one shared vision.
Consideration is being given to whether the scope of the Developer Partner should be widened to include opportunities in Droylsden Town Centre, in line with the Droylsden Masterplan Framework (approved in May 2025). This will be explored during the soft market testing stage.
