POPULAR interactive storytelling sessions are returning to Tameside Libraries, celebrating the theme: Love Where You Live
Led by Simon the Storyteller, these free Story Makers sessions invite children and families to explore their local community through stories and creative games.
The sessions ran by Tameside Council, are funded by Tameside Community Safety Partnership, and begin on Tuesday 23 September. The sessions will be held at Ashton Library, Dukinfield Library and Hattersley Library, and on Zoom for early years settings in Tameside.
Children and their families will be able to give their ideas for a bespoke children’s picture book which will be printed and published. All families who attend Story Maker sessions will be invited to a celebratory event where they will receive a free signed copy of the new book.
Families and nurseries will also be able to attend workshops; some being led by award winning children’s author Caryl Hart and illustrator Andy Rowland.
No booking is required for these activities and sessions.
Executive Member for Lifelong Learning and Culture, Cllr Leanne Feeley, said: “The Story Maker sessions are always extremely popular with our residents as they encourage excitement in children around books and reading. Reading is a huge gateway to knowledge and creativity. Children also get the opportunity to contribute to a bespoke published and printed story, which is incredible.
“The theme of Love Where You Live adds an extra personal touch, which can foster love and admiration for our borough. We are encouraging as many residents as possible to take part in this fantastic series of activities.”
