APPLICATIONS for Tameside’s Community Winter Support Grant are now open for projects delivering local resilience during the colder season.
Projects should be designed to deliver support to people who would be at risk of significant difficulty during colder weather including older people, people living in poverty, people who are homeless, carers and people with disabilities. This can include providing food related support and help people to keep warm.
The grant from Tameside Council aims to help community groups, voluntary organisations, community interest companies, social enterprises, development trusts and charities to support people to eat well and stay warm and healthy during the winter months. Applications will be open until all money is allocated.
Small grants are offered up to £1,500 and larger grants of up to £5,000 may also be considered. Larger exceptional grants may be considered separately following an in-depth discussion with the Community Winter Support Team.
Executive Member for Adult Social Care Cllr John Taylor said: ‘’Last year we saw lots of incredible support provided to our residents through the Community Winter Support Grant.
‘’From contributing the money towards Warm Hubs where people could go for a brew and chat to coordinating craft and wellbeing activities, so many people were supported in our borough. In some cases, people were provided with nutritious meals to enjoy in good company.
If you think that your group could benefit from this please get in touch with the team, they will be happy to tell you more and guide you through application process.’’
