Resident unlocks his potential at Tameside Jobs Fair

Date Released - 17/09/2025

A YOUNG person from Hyde discovered their newfound career path by attending Tameside Jobs Fair.

Lewis, 17, kickstarted his career success after attending the employment event, which helped find a role in a new and exciting industry.

The most recent Tameside Jobs Fair at Dukinfield Town Hall, hosted over 900 residents at their event earlier this year and featured over 40 employers and training providers. The Jobs Fair is an opportunity for candidates to browse a range of roles and opportunities.

Prior to this, Lewis worked weekend shifts at a local restaurant and was struggling to find suitable employment following the usual methods of jobs seeking. After sending out applications to many companies and receiving no response, his mum recommended attending the Tameside Jobs Fair.

Attending the event, hosted by Tameside Council, proved to be a turning point as Lewis found a full-time role with Hyde Group as a Trainee Aircraft Paint Sprayer.

Lewis explained that he was supported throughout the application and sign-on process. The team provided clear guidance on the steps he needed to take.

Lewis feels confident and excited that his role at Hyde Group offers lasting potential and stability, the team have already spoken about development opportunities when he is ready.

Lewis said: “I used other methods that weren’t really working, but I really recommend going to the Jobs Fair - it helped me a lot. There were tons of opportunities, and it was a very straightforward process. The team gave me details about each step and everything I needed to do in the initial stages.

“I’ve now found a role I can see myself doing long-term, and they have said when I’m happy to progress, they will find new opportunities within the workplace.”

The Autumn Jobs Fair will be taking place Wednesday 1 October, 10am-1pm, at Dukinfield Town Hall where residents will have the opportunity to speak with employers and providers and access a range of support from Team Tameside. Support includes CV advice, interview prep and more.

Executive Member for Lifelong Learning and Culture, Cllr Leanne Feeley said: “It’s fantastic to hear one of the success stories resulting from the Jobs Fair. Lewis is in a great role, with opportunities for development.

“We hope this story encourages other residents to make the most of the Jobs Fairs. There’s always a versatile range of employment and training opportunities, and the teams offer a lot of support for the process.”
