FUNDING is on offer to local community groups in Tameside to support the delivery of projects and activities that raise awareness of Hate Crime.

Bidding groups must ensure the activities are delivered in Tameside, benefit Tameside residents and be primarily delivered during the Greater Manchester Hate Crime Awareness Week (2-8 February 2026).

Applications will be open from Monday 29 September and close Friday 24 October.

Activities can include ideas around increasing awareness of the consequences of hate crime, where and how to report, and themes around hate crime.

Organisations should use the following priorities to guide their plans.

The four key priorities of the GM Hate Crime plan are:

Executive Member for Community Cohesion, Cllr Taf Sharif said: “We are encouraging all local charities and organisations to take part in this fantastic offer aimed at supporting the delivery of hate crime awareness activities and workshops.

“It is so important that as a borough, we demonstrate unity and inclusivity, wherever we can. By working in partnership, we can create a borough where everyone feels safe, valued, and included.”

Executive Member for Towns, Transport and Connectivity, Cllr Stephen Homer, said: “This is an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of hate crime and the factors surrounding it. The teams do a great job countering hate crime and offering support to those who wish to get involved, so please do take part if this is something you can offer.”
