A DENTON woman has been prosecuted for ignoring a council notice to stop playing loud music from her home.
Tameside Magistrate’s Court heard local residents had complained to Tameside Council about loud music at a property in Moorfield Avenue.
An Environmental Health officer installed noise monitoring equipment at a nearby address, analysed the recordings and served a noise abatement notice on the then occupier, Donna Keelan.
However, the loud music continued and the court heard breaches of the abatement notice were subsequently witnessed by council officers on three occasions within a week in April 2025.
Ms Keelan attended court on 19 December 2025 and pleaded guilty to the offences. She was fined £120, plus a victim surcharge of £48 and also ordered to pay an additional £50 towards the prosecution costs.
Tameside Council Executive Member for Environmental Services and Neighbourhoods Cllr Laura Boyle said: “Prosecution is a last resort in cases such as this, but where someone ignores a noise abatement notice we will take further action.
“This is good work by our public protection team and reflects our commitment to using our regulatory powers to support and protect residents who are negatively impacted by the actions of others."
