Residents are invited to attend a bereavement awareness day with a variety of organisations, support, and information on offer.
Together Through Loss will be held at Academy HQ in Stalybridge on 30 January from 12pm to 7pm. Jointly organised by Tameside Council, Empowered to Thrive CIC, Finding Rainbows, and Mourning Brew, and supported by Anthony Barton Funeral Service, the free event will allow visitors to hear from speakers and remind them that grief has no time limit and they are never alone.
The awareness day follows on from the success of the ‘Never Walk Alone’ bereavement event held in November 2024 and is open to anyone who has experienced loss at any point in their life. It emphasises that there is no right or wrong way to feel and no expectation to ‘be okay.’
Attendees will be able to talk about loss and discover the local, ongoing support available to them. A range of service stalls will offer guidance and resources, including The Anthony Seddon Fund, Willow Wood Hospice, The Carers Centre, Epseminars, Jigsaw Homes wellbeing support, Tameside Pulmonary Fibrosis support group, and more.
The event promises a safe, compassionate space where attendees can choose to share, listen, or simply be in a space with others who understand.
Cllr Taf Sharif, Tameside Council Executive Member for Health and Equalities, said: “Grief affects every one of us at some point in our lives, yet it can often feel isolating or difficult to talk about.
“Together Through Loss is about reminding people that support is available, their feelings are valid, and they don’t have to navigate loss alone.
“I’m grateful to everyone involved for creating a warm and inclusive space for our residents.”
Anyone interested in attending is encouraged to register for a free ticket here or drop in on the day.
