Dance festival to celebrate Tameside’s rich culture and heritage comes to Hyde

A FREE two day dance festival is coming to Hyde Town Hall giving residents the chance to watch performances and take part in workshops and even a roaming silent disco.

Taking place on Friday 20 March and Saturday 21 March 2026, the event offers a vibrant celebration of the borough’s dance heritage.

Tameside Council’s Cultural Services have partnered with local artist Sarah Hardacre to create an evolving programme that honours the past, while inviting communities to help shape what dance means to Tameside today.

The festival covers every genre, from the borough’s proud Morris traditions to its eras of ballroom elegance, Rock and Roll energy, Northern Soul passion, and full‑throttle rave culture.

It has been commissioned by Greater Manchester Arts and supported by GMCA Spirit with part‑funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

‍All events and activities are free, some require booking.

Tameside Council’s Executive Member for Towns, Transport and connectivity, Cllr Stephen Homer said: “We’re so excited to bring this fantastic celebration of Tameside’s artistic culture and heritage to Hyde. TRANSMISSION gives us the chance to honour history while creating something new with local groups.

“It’s set to be a fun, energetic event that everyone can enjoy, and I’m looking forward to seeing the town come alive with creativity.”
