Residents Invited to Help Shape Investment in Their Neighbourhoods

Date Released - 17/03/2026

Tameside residents are being invited to have their say on how more than £1.3 million of Pride in Place Impact Funding should be invested across the borough.

Tameside Council’s Neighbourhood Forums will give people the chance to influence funding priorities, submit ideas, and work with councillors and partners to bring forward proposals that will benefit their local area.

Four online community sessions will take place on 18, 19, 23 and 24 March at 6.30pm, giving residents the opportunity to hear from councillors and council officers. The live stream will allow people to submit questions and share views via an online form or by emailing policy@tameside.gov.uk. The online sessions can be accessed at Tameside MBC's Democracy Webcast System

Tameside Council Executive Leader, Councillor Eleanor Wills said: “This funding belongs to our communities, and residents should have a real say in how it is spent. The Neighbourhood Forums are designed to put local voices at the heart of decision‑making, helping us shape projects that make a genuine difference in our towns.

“We want to hear directly from residents about what matters most to them, and we look forward to working together to deliver improvements that create pride in every part of Tameside.”

The latest forums mark a pivotal point, as a new approach to community involvement will take place going forward, with future meetings being held in person, accessible to people across our nine towns to support greater public engagement.

Each forum will also include regular partnership discussions with Police, health services, VCFSE organisations, and local housing providers invited as standard. Members of the public will be able to submit questions for the agenda.

Tameside received a total of £1.5 million from the Pride in Place Impact Fund, with £110,820 already committed for 2025/26, which includes £20,000 for Eco Streets in Hyde, £30,000 to undertake design work for improvements to Dukinfield Town Hall Public Realm, and £60,820 to be spent on local play equipment.

A remaining £1.3 million is available for community‑supported proposals for capital expenditure such as construction or refurbishment projects until March 2027, and projects will need to focus on one or more of the following priorities:

Community groups, residents, and partners will be able to submit investment propositions during further rounds, with the next taking place between 1 March and 30 April 2026, and a further round between 1 June and 31 July 2026.

As Tameside has also secured £20 million in Pride in Place investment over ten years for Hattersley and Ashton, applications to the Impact Fund will be prioritised for the remaining seven towns and surrounding neighbourhoods not covered by those long‑term programmes.
