New funding round opens to support neighbourhood improvements across Tameside

Residents, community groups and local partners are being encouraged to apply for funding to deliver neighbourhood improvements across Tameside, as the final round of the Pride in Place Impact Fund opens. The £1.5 million fund is aimed at improving community spaces and supporting long-term neighbourhood regeneration by March 2027.

With some funds already committed, the next application window is now open and will run until 31 July 2026, giving communities the opportunity to submit bids for projects that enhance local spaces and boost pride across the borough.

The Pride in Place Impact Fund focuses on three key areas:

• Community spaces – enhancing local facilities and supporting organisations to bring underused buildings and spaces back into use
• Public spaces – upgrading parks, play areas, lighting and street furniture
• High streets and town centres – revitalising shopfronts, improving markets and enhancing streetscapes

The fund supports capital projects only, meaning investment in physical assets or improvements that will deliver long-lasting benefits for communities.

As part of wider investment across the borough, Tameside has already secured £20 million in Pride in Place funding over ten years for Hattersley and Ashton. To ensure fair distribution, this Impact Fund prioritises applications from the remaining seven towns and surrounding neighbourhoods not covered by these long-term programmes.

Tameside Council Executive Leader Councillor Eleanor Wills said: said: “The Pride in Place Impact Fund is about listening to residents and giving communities a real voice in shaping the places they care about. This final funding round is another chance for people to come forward with ideas that can make a lasting difference, whether that’s improving a valued community space, investing in a park, or bringing new life to a local high street.”
