Success for south Tameside Community Groups

COMMUNITY groups gathered for the annual Tameside Communities grant funding event, with all eight groups successful in their funding bids.

The event on 9 June, was held at Hyde Town Hall, and covered community groups in the areas of Longdendale, Godley, Newton, and Werneth.

Tameside Council’s Community Safety Partnership hosted the event to give groups the opportunity to bid for funding, while also allowing residents and fellow organisations to hear each other’s pitches and learn more about their plans for the grant.

Each group’s project must be based around the following 3 goals: empowerment, strengthening communities, preventing neighbourhood crime, and reducing harm and offending.

The winners were:

• Menopause Your Way
• Hattersley Community Garden Project
• Wildflower Hyde
• Ark of Hope Hattersley
• St Barnabas Hattersley
• In Bloom Hyde
• Friends of St Vincent’s Godley

Cllr Stephen Homer, Tameside Council’s Executive Member for Towns, Transport and Connectivity, said: “Well done to the fantastic community groups, all of who have been successful in securing funding. It’s great to hear how passionate each group is about improving their local areas, and there is a real shared enthusiasm for creating a safer, more connected Tameside. I can’t wait to see the outcomes!”
