Hundreds gathered in Victoria Park as Armed Forces Day returned in style to Denton, bringing the community together to celebrate service personnel past, present and future.
The popular annual event took place on Saturday 27 June, and welcomed residents of all ages for an afternoon of celebration and recognition.
Visitors enjoyed a wide range of entertainment, including live music and dance performances. There were also plenty of free activities for children and adults, such as inflatable axe throwing, face painting, arts and crafts, and more, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy.
A variety of support services and community organisations were also present, providing valuable information and advice to veterans and members of the Armed Forces community about the help and support available to them across the borough.
Councillor Hugh Roderick, Tameside Council Executive Member (Finance and Resources) and Armed Forces Champion, said: “Once again, Armed Forces Day delivered an incredible community event, giving us the opportunity to recognise and thank our Armed Forces. It was fantastic to see such an amazing turnout, with residents enjoying everything on offer. The atmosphere was wonderful, and as always, our teams did a brilliant job organising activities and entertainment for all generations.”
Veterans were reminded they can stay informed about events and support by registering with TASC at https://tamesidearmedservices.org.uk
The event once again demonstrated Tameside’s strong commitment to supporting and celebrating its Armed Forces community, with a well-attended and memorable day for all involved.
