Community groups invited to apply for Hate Crime Awareness Grants
COMMUNITY organisations across Tameside are being encouraged to apply for funding to deliver projects and activities that help tackle hate crime and promote safer, stronger communities.
Tameside Council's Community Safety Team is inviting local groups to apply for grants of up to £500, funded by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), to support activities taking place as part of Greater Manchester Hate Crime Awareness Week (1-7 February 2027).
Projects must be delivered in Tameside, benefit local residents and primarily take place during Hate Crime Awareness Week.
Funding can be used to support activities that increase awareness of hate crime, encourage reporting, support victims, and bring communities together.
Organisations should use the following six priorities of the Greater Manchester Hate Crime plan to guide their proposals:
Executive Member for Towns, Transport and Connectivity Stephen Homer said: "We're pleased to once again offer this funding to Tameside’s community groups that are passionate about making a positive difference in regard to hate crime and embracing our diversity, we have seen some great results in previous years.
“These grants provide an opportunity for organisations to create meaningful activities that raise awareness, encourage people to seek support and help build understanding between different communities. We’re aiming to ensure Tameside remains a welcoming place for everyone. So, if this is relevant to you, please do get involved."
