Mayor's charity appeal raises 10,000

Date Released - 08/05/2017

THE charity appeal is a key feature of every Civic Mayor of Tameside’s year of office. Events like the highly popular golf day and St Valentine’s ball are used to raise money for good causes within the borough.

With a few days of his term remaining, Cllr Philip Fitzpatrick has realised more than £10,000. On Monday, 22 May, he will be entertaining representatives of three charities in the mayor’s parlour at Dukinfield Town Hall to present them with their share.

Tameside 4 Good, Citizens Advice Tameside, and Willow Wood Hospice will each get a cheque for £3,546.20.

The Mayor said: “I’m delighted I’ve been able to help three such worthy causes. They all do a very important job within Tameside and I hope the money makes a difference to them. I know it will be put to good use.

“My year of office ends on May 23, so I would like to wish my successor, Cllr Joyce Bowerman, the very best with her charity appeal. I hope she manages to raise even more.”
