Big ideas for business success

Date Released - 06/07/2017

A NEW source of knowledge and networking for budding entrepreneurs and aspiring business-owners is arriving in Tameside.

The Big Ideas Generators project will deliver unique workshops and surgeries in Central Library Ashton, which are designed to support those who are thinking of starting up their own business.

Throughout July there will be free sessions held on Free Online Tools, Twitter for Beginners, and an Introduction to Selling Online - with many more events to arrive in the coming months.

The project follows a £250,000 funding boost by the ‘Libraries Opportunities for Everyone’ Fund, which has been shared across the ten local authorities in Greater Manchester to promote innovation and enterprise.

The Big Ideas project covers some of essentials for those budding entrepreneurs looking to start up their own business. Just some of the examples include personalised one-to-one business information surgeries, specialist training, how to sessions and informal networking opportunities.

So whether you’re thinking of starting a business or dreaming up a new invention, some specialist business and digital training won’t go amiss.

Events will be held by local information experts and guests, including Maggie Hardy, a qualified Ebay trainer who has 14 years of online trading experience.

State-of-the-art equipment has also been granted from the funding, such as a 3D printer, a smart TV set, and five Arduino/Raspberry Pi kits for coding and Internet of Things workshops.

There will be around three workshops and events held each month, and you can already register your interest for events in August.

Anybody can access these worthwhile sessions, all you have to do is make sure that you book yourself a place online before they run out!
