AROUND 1,000 people took up the challenge to #Endyouryearwithanewcareer by attending the Tameside Jobs Fair at New Charter’s Cavendish 249 offices in Ashton.
They had the to complete job applications for live vacancies offered by employers such as O2 and Tameside Hospital, and also to get information about training, skills and adult learning courtesy of the Skills Company, Tameside Adult Community Education, I2I and the National Careers Service.
Tameside Council’s executive member for health, housing and economic growth, Cllr Ged Cooney, said: “I’d like to thank all the businesses and exhibitors that supported the jobs fair and for providing a wealth of vacancies.
“The council, with its partners and stakeholders, fully understands the importance of providing opportunities within Tameside and neighbouring boroughs, and it is encouraging to see this vision is also recognised by our employers.
“I would like to extend my thanks to those who helped put this event together: Job Centre Plus, New Charter Housing, Peak Valley Housing Association, Tameside Council (Employment and Skills) and the National Careers Service.
“We hope the event creates opportunities for our residents and supports businesses to build a local workforce.”
