OUTSIDE the snow is gently falling. Inside the Stahlbaum family are preparing their Christmas party.
The children, Marie and Fritz, are fortunate enough to have a talented godfather: a clockmaker who builds fantastic items – including a nutcracker – that take them on a festive, fairytale journey.
Thanks to Tameside Cultural Services, you can join in that journey. On Thursday, December 14, Ballet Theatre UK, an internationally recognised dance company, will be at the Festival Theatre, Hyde, with their new production of “The Nutcracker”.
It’s a magical way to start the Christmas festivities. Underpinned by Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable musical score, the production features superb choreography. Exquisite costumes and breathtaking scenery come together to create an atmosphere of fantasy and illusion.
This enchanting adventure – which features favourites such as “The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” and the famous “Waltz of the Snowflakes” - is a treat for the entire family and will delight audiences young and old.
Tickets, priced £16 for adults and £12 for concessions, are available on 0161 342 4144 or at www.tameside.gov.uk/theatre Discounts apply for groups of 20-plus.
Hyde Festival Theatre is on Corporation Street, Hyde, SK14 1AB. Curtain up at 7.30pm.
