Journey times could be delayed in the Oldham Road – Cavendish Street area of Ashton-under-Lyne and so we would ask to avoid the area and take an alternative route if possible. To cater for the expected large attendance, Burlington Street will be closed on either side of Cavendish Street and both Burlington Street car parks will be closed from 7am for family members and dignitaries. We would advise those wishing to attend and pay their respects to arrive early so that they can allow time to park further out and to please be aware that the Church is likely to be filled to capacity and should therefore come dressed appropriately for the weather.
Following the service, which should end around 11.30am, the cortege will depart for a private burial at Droylsden Cemetery. The roads and car parks will be reopened once the mourners have dispersed.
