Taxi Driver Banned

Date Released - 21/03/2018

ON March 20, Tameside Council’s Speaker’s Panel (licensing) revoked the licence of a taxi driver who showed great irresponsibility by almost knocking a cyclist off his bike and then subjecting the man to a torrent of abuse.

Tameside Council expects the highest standards of conduct from its taxi drivers. Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians all have a right to use the roads without risking their lives and should treat each other with respect and without aggression. Taxi drivers, of all people, should be setting a good example.

Such cases are very rare, but when they do occur Tameside Council will not hesitate to use its enforcement powers. Fortunately, most people drive in a sensible and courteous way.
