FUNDRAISERS were in the swing as they chipped in to boost the Mayor’s charity appeal.

Eight teams took part in the Civic Mayor of Tameside’s Annual Charity Golf Day at Denton Golf Club on Friday to raise £374.20.

The weather stayed dry and a good time was had by all.

In a close competition, the event was won by ‘Royal Denton’, led by Denton Captain Trevor Taylor, while in second place were ‘Hyde United FC’ and in third place were ‘The Swingers’, who have generously taken part in the competition every year since it began in 2008.

The Mayor’s Charity Appeal is this year supporting a small number of charities close to the Mayor’s heart including Tameside 4 Good, Marie Curie, The Mesothelioma UK Charitable Trust and The Anthony Seddon Fund.

Civic Mayor of Tameside Councillor Joyce Bowerman said: “I’m absolutely delighted that the event was a success and so grateful to all the teams who took part and to everybody at the Golf Club for their kind and continued support. The money raised through their efforts will now go to four very worthy causes.”
