TAMESIDE will once again salute service personnel past and present on Saturday, June 30, when the borough celebrates Armed Forces Day in Denton, with support from the Ministry of Defence.
The fun starts at 1pm around the bandstand in Victoria Park where live entertainment will be provided by Denton Band, the Dave Egerton Band, TMS Brass, TMS Big Band, the Do-Your-Thing Choir and poet Albert Taylor.
In addition there will be a wide range of free family-friendly activities, including a climbing wall, inflatable-assault course, face-painting, balloon modelling, arts and crafts. Many service support organisations will also be in attendance including the Tameside Armed Services Community and Royal British Legion. Refreshments will be available from Victoria Park Community Centre.
A Tameside Council spokesman said: “Our armed forces are at work across the globe risking their lives for us on a daily basis.
“Tameside has a long, proud history with all our services and Armed Forces Day is a great opportunity for the people of the borough to show their support and appreciation of the sacrifices made on their behalf.”
