JOBSEEKERS flocked to Tameside Job Fair to make the most of a range of opportunities from local organisations.
The event was hosted by Jigsaw Homes on 21 September, in partnership with Jobcentre Plus and the Tameside Council Employment and Skills team.
It featured stalls from local employers with live vacancies and information about potential training opportunities.
They were kept busy throughout the day as more than 600 people visited, who were given support in searching for jobs and careers advice by the National Careers Service, Tameside ACE and Google Garage.
The employers who attended covered multiple employment sectors including retail, construction, hospitality, health and social care, security and administration. They included Tameside Council, IKEA, Greater Manchester Police, NHS, Betfred, the Village Hotel, Robertson Construction, G4S, Search Consultancy on behalf of Vinci Construction, Creative Support, Reed and Task Rabbit.
Cllr Leanne Feeley, Tameside Council Executive Member for Lifelong Learning, said: “I’m delighted that the Tameside Job Fair was a tremendous success with lots of people attending to find out about the latest employment and high quality training opportunities.
“We’re pleased to help organise this important event and I hope it leads to people finding the right career opportunities for them.”
Jobseekers are reminded to check out the Greater Jobs website for opportunities to work for Tameside Council and other partner organisations. The award winning website at www.greater.jobs advertises more than 10,000 jobs a year from 12 public sector organisations in one place to make it quick and easy to see what positions are available and apply.
