IF you have a passion for fashion, than make sure you access the new “Accessorise” exhibition at Portland Basin Museum, Ashton.
It features a vast array of stunning, practical and interesting ladies' items from the museum’s collections as well as various loans. Some have not been on display for years - if ever.
They include hats, shoes, hat-pins, jewellery, scarves and gloves.
The main feature of the exhibition is a collection of beautiful hat-pins and hat-pin stands gathered by a local collector. Some are functional, some are decorative, and the stands are made from various materials.
You can even dress up in our Accessorise Yourself area, take a picture and post it on the museum’s Twitter page.
Cllr Leanne Feeley, Tameside Council’s executive member with responsibility for culture, said: “This interesting exhibition takes us back to a time when dress standards were so different and a woman would never have left the house without her hat and gloves.
“It offers a fascinating look at the past and is well worth a visit.”
“Accessorise!” takes place at Portland Basin Museum, Portland Place, Ashton, until March 31. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday.
